My Manifesto
Introduction
Hello, fellow students! My name is Danish Danial, and I am running for the position of Vice President of Wellbeing because I believe that a thriving student community begins with a strong foundation of mental, physical, and emotional wellbeing. As an energetic and approachable leader, I am committed to ensuring that every student at Heriot-Watt feels supported, valued, and empowered to succeed both academically and personally.
University life can be an exciting journey, but it also comes with challenges such as stress, anxiety, and maintaining a healthy work-life balance. My goal is to enhance student wellbeing by implementing effective initiatives, creating safe spaces, and ensuring that every student has access to the support they need.
My Vision
I envision a university where student wellbeing is not an afterthought but a top priority. A campus where mental health resources are accessible, student voices are heard, and every individual feels part of a supportive and inclusive community.
To achieve this, I will focus on three key pillars:
1. Mental Health & Emotional Wellbeing
Expanding mental health support: Advocate for more counseling services, peer support groups, and professional mental health resources to be readily available for students.
Wellbeing workshops: Organize stress management, mindfulness, and self-care sessions to equip students with practical strategies to navigate university life.
Tackling loneliness and isolation: Promote buddy systems, community-building events, and social initiatives to ensure no student feels alone or unsupported.
2. Physical Wellbeing & Healthy Lifestyle
Affordable and accessible health services: Work towards better student healthcare provisions, including free health screenings, fitness programs, and access to nutritious food options on campus.
Encouraging an active lifestyle: Promote initiatives such as free workout sessions, yoga classes, and sports tournaments to encourage students to stay active and healthy.
Better campus facilities: Advocate for improvements in gym facilities, recreational spaces, and wellbeing lounges to create a healthier environment for students.
3. A Safe, Inclusive & Supportive Community
Enhancing campus safety: Push for better security measures, mental health first aid training for staff, and awareness programs on student wellbeing.
Zero tolerance for discrimination and harassment: Foster a culture of respect, inclusivity, and equal opportunities for all students, regardless of background, gender, or identity.
Bridging the gap between students and university administration: Ensure that students' concerns, feedback, and wellbeing-related issues are heard and acted upon by working closely with university leadership.
Why Vote for Me?
I am passionate, approachable, and dedicated to making tangible changes for students' wellbeing.
I understand the challenges students face and am committed to advocating for practical solutions.

With your support, we can make Heriot-Watt a university where student wellbeing is a priority, not just a policy. Let's work together to create a healthier, happier, and more supportive campus for everyone!
