My Biography
Assalamualaikum, Hello, Da Jia Hao, Eppadi Irukinge, Vanakkam, and Bonjour
My name is Mohammad Zarir Zehan, and I am a Foundation student at our university. I am passionate about leadership and community building, and in the future, I aspire to contribute to nation-building.
I am grateful for the opportunity to have served as the batch president during my final year at Global Modern International School for my IGCSEs. Before that, I studied for a year at SMK Victoria Institution. My hobbies include horse riding, gardening, cooking, and reading.
Before entering university, I gained valuable experience assisting my parents in their business. I handled administrative work, assisted in the audit process, attended meetings with CEOs and captains of industry, and had the opportunity to interact with successful individuals. These experiences have shaped my confidence, leadership skills, and financial awareness, and I am eager to share my knowledge and contribute meaningfully to our student community.
Additionally, I was actively involved in NGO initiatives, helping to deliver food and essential supplies to refugees and marginalized communities during COVID-19 and the 2022 floods.
My Manifesto
I believe that the role of a Treasurer is more than just handling numbers, budgets, and spreadsheets. It is about responsibility, transparency, and ensuring that every ringgit is used wisely to benefit ALL students. Every decision must be fair and beneficial to everyone.
As Treasurer, I aim to bring efficiency, 100% honesty, and 100% transparency to financial management. I will work to ensure that funds are allocated responsibly and equitably to support initiatives that benefit the entire student body.
Additionally, I will create opportunities for personal and professional growth by inviting reputable individuals—entrepreneurs, industry experts, and academics—to deliver talks and workshops at our university. These initiatives will inspire and prepare students for future challenges, equipping them with knowledge and real-world skills.
I also believe in the power of financial empowerment. I will organize creative fundraising activities to enhance student programs, support charitable initiatives for marginalized communities, and promote an engaging, inclusive university experience.
What motivated me to nominate myself?
My motivation to run for Treasurer comes from my passion for service and my strong belief in transparency and accountability.
I have always believed that responsible financial management can positively impact a community, ensuring that every student feels valued and supported.
My exposure to financial and administrative responsibilities has given me the practical experience necessary to handle this role effectively. Through my leadership experiences, I have developed problem-solving skills, financial acumen, and an ethical mindset, ensuring that our student association’s funds are managed responsibly and efficiently.
This role is an opportunity to serve, uplift, and improve our student community, and I am fully committed to taking on this responsibility with integrity, honesty, and dedication.
My top three priorities
Develop a transparent budgeting system to ensure fair and efficient allocation of funds, with clear financial reports available for students to review, aligned with ESG principles where possible.
Organize engaging fundraising events to strengthen the association’s financial resources, promote active student involvement, and collaborate with other departments to secure budgets for events, while also supporting charitable causes.
Invite reputable speakers and organize impactful workshops to enrich the university experience, offering students valuable insights, mentorship opportunities, and skills development for the future.
What would I bring to the role?
I bring a strong foundation in leadership, financial management, strong values, and community engagement.
My experience has given me a keen understanding of financial accountability and precision, as well as exposure to effective decision-making processes.
As Treasurer, I will ensure transparency, sustain trust, and allocate resources strategically to create value and opportunities for every student.
Beyond managing budgets, I am committed to building an inclusive, supportive, and empowered student community. I want to ensure that financial decisions reflect the best interests of all students, creating a more engaging and enriching university experience.
